Skin & Allergy News – Genetic baldness test
Written by Male Pattern Baldness Writer on August 19th, 2010A new genetic test for predicting the risk of baldness is available from HairDX. According to the genetic test, a man whose father has any degree of hair loss, and who himself tests positive for a particular variant gene, has at least an 80% chance of experiencing some degree of male pattern hair loss. By contrast, a man whose father has no evidence of hair loss, and who himself tests negative for the variant AR gene, has at least a 90% chance of not developing male pattern hair loss. The new HairDX genetic test kit has been listed as a class I medical device by the Food and Drug Administration. The product is available only through qualified physicians, and the results are confidentially delivered to the physician who submits the genetic test for processing.
