Holistic Ways To Avoid Baldness

As reported by Wikepedia, baldness in men affects approximately 40 million men in the United States.  Approximately 25% of men begin balding by the age of 30 and 67% by the age of 60.  The belief was that the baldness gene got passed through from the maternal grandfather but studies are beginning to show it may come from both parents.

Some women think that bald men are sexy.  They like a well tanned, shiny head.  The problem with the balding process is that it is a process.  It can take a while to completely lose the hair.  If you are balding, what do you do?  Do you accept it for what it is and just shave it off?  Another solution is to just wait out the inevitable or you can fight it.  There are things you can do to fight the loss of your hair.

Baldness is caused by the tightening of your scalp.  This tightening causes your hair to fall out.  Massaging your scalp daily can help to loosen it up.  A properly completed scalp massage will increase circulation to your hair follicles, increase relaxation, decrease stress, condition the scalp and boost the strength of the hair roots.

Correctly massaging your scalp can involve the use of a massage oil.  You should begin by choosing a massage oil that is appropriate for your hair problem.  Place the oil in a bowl that is placed in hot water to warm it up.  Dip your fingers in the oil and massage different parts of your scalp, moving your hair around so the oil can get to the scalp.  Begin massaging at the hairline and work your way back.  You should use medium pressure and use circular motions to promote relaxation.  Once you have done this once through, go back and do it again, only this time use more pressure and more vigorous movements.  Once the massage is completed, leave the oil on your head for at least 30 minutes then wash it out.

Choosing the correct massage oil depends on the type of hair loss problem you have.  You can use almond or lavender oil if you brittle hair.  Rosemary or coconut oil is good to slow down the hair shedding process.  These oils also stimulate the hair follicles and serve to produce new hair growth.

Checking your vitamin intake can also help with your hair loss.  Hair loss occurs when your diet is lacking in vitamins B, especially vitamin B6.  Deficiency in the minerals magnesium, sulfur and zinc are also contributing factors.

Vitamin B6 is found in a variety of foods including beans, meat, poultry, fish and some fruits and vegatables.  Choosing a good variety of the above will help you to provide the nutrients to promote good hair growth.  You should avoid animal fats and fried foods.

The taking of a good vitamin and mineral supplement such as USANA Essentials or other types of vitamin supplements that contain natural nutrients will also help you obtain the proper nutrients.  Watch the required daily doses and do not overdose on any particular vitamin or mineral.  You may do more damage than good.
